FoodBlog – Cape Town restaurants: Bacini's
I can still remember the special Bacini’s restaurant had going during the last FIFA World Cup (2006). Free Beer if Italy wins! Who won again!? Should have been there for the final! Hope they continue this promotion for the World Cup 2010. Cape Town! It’s going to be insane! (Please let me know if this has not been updated after the WC)
But let me continue with my review (if you can call it that). I haven’t been to Bacini’s in ages. If I can remember correctly, it was with a couple of friends just before our Matric exams started – that’s quite a while back. So I did a little research before writing this. And I found mixed views. There are some that loved the food, but on the other hand, some found the staff very rude and impatient. I’ve been there a lot in the past and I enjoyed it each and every time. I never had to complain about the pizzas or the service.
Bacini’s is situated at the top of Kloof Street, Cape Town and offers a wonderful, cozy and relaxing experience. I always tried to get a table outside, so try and be there early or call and make a booking. The inside seems more like a bar than an actual restaurant. The pizzas are one of the best in Cape Town.
More recently I have preferred Col’cachio – their pizza is amazingly good and closer to home. But if you are looking for the true Italian experience, go to Bacini’s.

Bacini's - Orso
I am just correcting the Ermano Orso comment.
He was never an owner but a family friend. This is what the actual owner and founder told me recently. I also thought he was the owner, but i was wrong. Now lately i have seen service pick up and staff very well trained. there must be some new blood. Still my preferred Pizza in Cape Town.

Bacini's
Long been a favourite of mine, best Pizzas and most generous toppings I have enjoyed anywhere. Always a great atmosphere. Phoned today to make a booking and found I had dialled the owners personal mobile number (I had kept an old card for my restaurant file). Ermanno Orso said he was no longer involved in Bacini's and had moved on! Shock - his personality and family made that place. Still going tomorrow night but with some trepidation.
