FoodBlog – Cape Town Restaurants: Den Anker Restaurant and Bar
The Den Anker restaurant is situated on the Pierhead of the V&A Waterfront near the Hildebrand restaurant. They offer wonderful Belgian food – international cuisine at its best. It can compete with any restaurant in Cape Town.
Furthermore, its location is just a dream. Den Anker has a wonderful view of Cape Town’s own Table Mountain and the Alfred Basin. At night, both are wonderful and magical to look at. Their menu mirrors their location – an absolute pleasure! Everyone will find something that is to their liking. It is also rumoured that they offer the widest variety of Belgian beers in Africa. Never tried any myself – but might do so next time I’m in the area. Den Anker also offers an extensive wine list including top local and international wines.
You are always guaranteed a great evening at Den Anker. Go for dinner with friends; enjoy the amazing food and the magnificent surroundings. The restaurant always delivers.

den anker review
My wife and I went here for dinner on 7th March 2012. There were no oysters or mussels available - in a Belgian restaurant! The waiter was friendly and when asked if the line fish was fresh he assured us that it was. The shrimp croquette starter was uninteresting with the texture of the shrimps as if they had been quickly defrosted. The line fish was cape salmon and was dry, tasteless and a miserly portion. If there hadn't been a cheese sauce with it, it would have been inedible. I could see the waiter was embarrassed - he didn't even ask if we enjoyed the meal. The wine was also pricey. Not a memorable experience!
