FoodBlog – Cape Town restaurants: Paulaner Brauhaus and Restaurant
If you are looking for good German beer, go to Paulaner Brauhaus and Restaurant. It is located near the Clocktower at the V&A Waterfront, Cape Town and offers a relaxed family friendly brewery and restaurant that provides a rustic German feeling.
When Germany plays during the FIFA World Cup, make sure you go to Paulaner – just make sure you don’t wear the colours of the opponents and you will be fine. They always set up several big screen, inside and outside. Furthermore, every room has its own little TV to ensure that you will not miss any action. (Except if there is a power outage in Switzerland at the exact same time as Germany is about to score a goal against Turkey – Thank You for cell phones with internet access).
I’m not too keen on their Paulaner restaurant. Don’t get me wrong – I love the food but it’s just way too expensive for me. The reason I go there is for the Paulaner brewery. There is nothing better on a hot summer’s day. If you are a beer drinker: They’ve got a taste promotion going on that lets you taste every beer they offer in mini-beer glasses. STAY AWAY! It’s not worth it. You get much more value for your money if you buy a 500ml beer.
During October they’ve got the Oktoberfest running, also make sure to check out their website to see if any live acts are going on. A few years ago, they had 7th son playing every Wednesday. Fun Times! Also, if you are looking for a venue for a function, the 2nd level of the Paulaner restaurant can be booked.
If you at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town this summer make sure you go to Paulaner and order one of their beers – you won’t be disappointed.
